Coalition Against Corporal Punishment
Raising Voices is one of the founding members and the current chair of the Coalition against Corporal Punishment. Through this mechanism, Raising Voices and eight other organizations and individuals in Uganda work to ensure that the issue of prohibiting corporal punishment remains a national priority and that efforts to respond to the issue are shared and coordinated.
In their role as chair of the Coalition, Raising Voices:
- Hosts several member meetings.
- Advocates for a clause prohibiting corporal punishment to be included in the review of the Children’s Act.
- Publishes well-investigated articles in major newspapers in Uganda to maintain dialogue on the dangers of corporal punishment.
