In January 2024, Prossy returned to Raising Voices as the Co-Director, Violence Against Children Prevention. Prossy started activism at a young age of 11 when she ran away from the school assembly because she thought it was unfair to be beaten for speaking vernacular (local language). When her name was read, instead of stepping in the front to receive three canes, she walked backward and ran away as fast as her legs could carry her. To-date, she spends her time collaborating with community partners, policymakers, and stakeholders to ensure that every child can grow up in a safe and nurturing environment. With over 18 years of professional experience, she worked as a Communications and Advocacy Officer at Raising Voices (2006-2011), where she coordinated an international award-winning multi-media campaign to prevent violence against children. She worked with the United Nations Population Fund  (UNFPA) for 11 years, as the Team Lead, Communications, Partnerships and Resource Mobilization at the Uganda Country Office, where she spearheaded the transformative Let Girls Be Girls campaign to prevent teenage pregnancy, as well as coordinated the development of knowledge products, including a series of Issue Briefs that were used for evidence-based advocacy. She also worked as a Programme Specialist, Gender and Human Rights, at the UNFPA Pacific Sub-Regional Office in Fiji, overseeing the Spotlight Initiative to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls, covering 14 Pacific Island Countries. Prossy holds an M.A in International Development Studies from the University of Amsterdam – the Netherlands, as well as a Bachelors’ in Arts majoring in Mass Communication and Literature from Makerere University, Kampala - Uganda.
