Building a Movement to prevent Violence against Women in the Horn, East and Southern Africa
This Learning Paper shares the GBV Prevention Network’s experience strengthening movement building to prevent violence against women in the Horn, East and Southern Africa. It draws on Fostering Learning and Activism for a Movement to End Violence (FLAME), an initiative that brought together partners across five countries through in-person, virtual and hybrid activities. The paper shares activists’ experiences and learnings engaging in movement building, and presents a three-step framework, Ground, Rethink and Sustain, for strengthening and aligning the regional VAW prevention movement. We close with recommendations for movement builders and funders.
