Raising Voices is committed to values-driven technical assistance that fosters safe, ethical programming and partnership. Using that lens, our Violence Prevention Learning Center is helping take the Good School Toolkit to scale through three main models:
The Peer Learning Network is a vibrant space that provides opportunities for individuals, organizations and government institutions to share and learn from each other to strengthen and sustain Toolkit implementation. Through routine engagements both in person and virtually, our Peer Learning Network reaches over 75,000 children and 15,000 teachers, among other individuals invested in preventing violence against children in schools. For more information on joining, email us!
We provide ongoing capacity-building for the pool of 40 regional resource persons and for Violence Against Children Prevention Center program staff. This training—which involves in-depth understanding of violence against children, mastery of Good School Toolkit materials and a commitment to best practices for providing technical assistance—is designed both to ensure quality Toolkit implementation and to move toward our vision of a pool of technical experts supporting Toolkit implementation.
As part of continuous capacity-building, we are also introducing online courses and have developed a growing library of digital content to foster capacity-building for stakeholders, including Ministry of Education and Sports staff. We will soon host interested groups in a comprehensive online course on Toolkit implementation, full of engaging video content and real-world scenarios. We have also rolled out a Good School mobile app to support technical assistance providers in building their skills and monitoring work in schools.
As part of our advocacy efforts, we have also built the capacity of core staff in the ministry’s Gender Unit related to the Good School Toolkit. This has been mainly through training on core Toolkit ideas and invitations to participate in organized activities, like our media campaign and site visits to schools.
The work of Kaana Foundation is well known. They hold trainings for preventing violence against children [and] as a result, children get their rights and know how best they can get help in case they face violence . . . We are working together—the district, Kaana Foundation, Joy for Children and Raising Voices—for one goal.
